Introduction
Lowestoft is an often forgotten town on the sun rise coast of East Anglia, but there is no reason for it to hide. In fact it is a very nice town, which is capable of combining both offers for decent holidays and affordable prices. Attractions don’t have to be expensive either for culturally interested people or for those searching for a surge of adrenalin; they are on offer throughout the year.
Situation
This city is attractively situated on Suffolk’s east coast, centered between the harbour Great Yarmouth and the sunny and sophisticated Southwold. Beside the attractive sandy beach, the High Street invites visitors to stroll and shop. In addition, there are some places of interest, i.e. a lighthouse, the fish market and the fun fare which are frequently visited, as well as the most easterly point of England, called Ness Point. Especially cheap accommodation is situated at Marine Parade, which is parallel to the strip of beach, only 30 meters away.
Accommodation
Lowestoft is well known for its incredibly inexpensive B&Bs (Bed and Breakfast). Facing and therefore allowing a nice view to the seaside, Marine Parade’s B&Bs are placed at the heart of the town, where life is pulsing.
Twin bedded rooms are available for only £50 per night per room mostly with En-Suite bathrooms. The spacious bedrooms are done up in the original Victorian style. TVs serve sky and a ‘Full English Breakfast’ is always inclusive. Single rooms cost £35 per night and parking bays in front of the houses are for free.
How to snack
B&Bs always require some lunch and supper at extra expense, which is why we recommend the following: There are plenty of Fast Food outlets in Lowestoft e.g. KFC at Marine Parade; McDonald’s, Subway, CafĂ© Express, etc. in Lowestoft’s High Street. For more health awareness there is a canteen opposite Marks & Spencer, which serves half organic but also cheap food; in fact it is much tastier than it looks like. Pubs are at the upper end of the High Street and the Kebab shop opens after 2 pm.
Conclusion
Overall, Lowestoft is recommended as an attractive town with plenty of facilities, which guarantee holidays without boredom. It has met the expectations of hundreds of people year after year which is largely due to good value for money.
